On the 17th December 2005 we celebrated our launch by inviting some selected guests to cruise in the afternoon around Weligama bay in .The Spirit of Dondra.. Most of the guests were involved in local tourism on the South Coast and the aim was to give them a live experience of our water sports services and get some useful feedback. Amongst the local guests were Henri Tatham, manager of The Sun House in Galle and Taprobane Island in Weligama, and Jo & Jack Eden who are the owners of Sri Lanka.s premier villa rental company Eden Villas. Jetwings sent a representative from the Lighthouse Hotel, which is the largest hotel in Galle, and particularly interested in eco-tourism and activity holidays. We were delighted also to welcome aboard a .foreigner. from the hills, the manager of the newly opened boutique hotel The Kandy House. On the same auspicious day, we baptised our new sailing boat which is a replica of the original wooden Maldivian dhoni but made locally in Galle from fibre glass. The 17th Dec was the maiden voyage at sea for our new dhoni, helmed by Mr Pierre Pringiers, and marked the start of a new class boat of sailing in Sri Lanka
